Installation & Removal

Our Classic tapes are designed with plenty of stretch for easy installation and superior comfort.

Installation

While the tape stretches well, avoid overdoing it. Pulling too hard or applying strong force can cause the tape to crack or snap. We recommend firm, steady tension for a solid result.

Overstretching or excessive pressure when installing may compromise the tape’s structure and longevity.

To finish installation, lock the bar tape in place with regular or electrical tape and top it off with the supplied finishing tape.

Removal

Our Classic tape range uses a dependable silicone gel backing to keep your wrap secure.

When it’s time for a refresh or a visit to the mechanical, the silicone gel lifts away easily and can be reapplied hassle-free.

If any light residue lingers, grab acetone, a hair dryer or citrus cleaner for a swift clean up.

A mechanic's (and your) dream wrap

Never wrapped bars before? No problem.

Burgh's silicone gel backing makes the whole process forgiving. Give things a slight stretch on application, and if it doesn't go to plan, simply remove and start again. The same reason pro mechanics love working with it is the same reason first-timers nail it too. Clean, consistent, and cooperative whether it's your first wrap or your fiftieth.

Comfort, grip and performance

A unique blend

Our unique polymer blend creates a surface that is water resistant, shock absorbing and grippy – even in the wettest of conditions. Our tapes are perfect for cyclists who love all kinds of riding – but especially for those who love to get grit, sand and mud all over their pride and joy.

Are Burgh Handlebar Tapes right for You?

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

There's something about the feeling of good tape beneath your hands — the confidence it gives you mid-sprint, the comfort it offers on hour four of a gravel epic, the quiet reliability it provides on the morning commute when your mind is somewhere else entirely. Burgh tape doesn't shout about what it does. It just does it, ride after ride, in whatever conditions you throw at it.

Not sure which one is right for you? We’ve built a Bar Tape Quiz to help you choose. Answer a few quick questions about how and where you ride, and we’ll point you towards the tape that suits you best.

Take the Bar Tape Quiz

Road & Track

That moment when the pace lifts and the bunch splinters, your hands need to be the last thing on your mind. Burgh tape stays put, feels right, and lets you focus on the wheel in front.

Gravel & Off-Road

Hours of corrugations, river crossings, and whatever the trail decides to throw at you. Mud, sand, and the particular chaos of a cyclocross course at full pace, Burgh soaks it up quietly, and hoses off in seconds when the adventure's done.

Commute & Every Day

Not every ride is epic. But your hands deserve the same grip regardless. Potholes, peak hour, and the daily grind, Burgh handles it without complaint.

Heard from the saddle

What riders are saying out on the bike

What do I get in the box?

Every box of Burgh bar tape includes two rolls of bar tape, two end plugs, and two strips of finishing tape – everything you need to wrap it good.

Can it handle gravel and off-road conditions?

That's where it earns its keep. Our tapes are made for riders who love to get grit, sand and mud all over their pride and joy.

The surface stays grippy when wet, while the shock-absorbing properties dampens the buzz over the rough stuff.

How do I install my bar tape?

We recommend three ways to wrap your tape - the Traditional, Modern or Top-Down Method.

Jump on over to our How to Wrap page, where we have a video explainer on each.

First time wrapping? Every Burgh bar tape comes with a silicone gel backing for easy wrapping (and re-wrapping).

How long should my bar tape last?

That depends on how hard you ride and the conditions you throw at it. With proper installation and regular cleaning, you should get solid longevity out of your Burgh tape. Though, no tape lasts forever, especially if you're covering serious miles.
